KINNECT partners with Ngak Min Health

Announcements 05 Jul 2022

KINNECT partners with Ngak Min Health to help tackle health inequality for indigenous Australians in Cape York and regional far North Queensland.

KINNECT has selected a charity partner Ngak Min Health as beneficiary of our new 25th anniversary corporate fundraising program, initiated with an initial $2,000 donation.

Ngak Min Health, part of the Cape York Partnership, are a non-profit focussed on tackling health inequality for indigenous Australians in the Cape York Peninsular and regional far North Queensland.

KINNECT has focused fundraising efforts at industry conferences and events, encouraging visitors to engage in the campaign in return for a donation.

Kevin Conlon, Chief Executive, explained:

“With a return to real in-person events for the first time in two years, we wanted to try something different. Rather than give out flyers and freebies like everyone else, we told people we were raising money for charity instead.

“The ask was simple; if people visit the KINNECT stand and leave their name with us, we give $10.”

“So far with the North Queensland WorkWell Conference and Comcare completed, we’ve been able to contribute $2,000 to Ngak Min Health. I’m thrilled at how people have really responded well to this campaign and our aspiration to do something more meaningful.”

The health of indigenous health is one of the biggest challenges facing our nation. Indigenous Australians have an average life expectancy 19 years below that of wider Queensland and a lack of access to healthcare services.

Kevin added:

“We’ve chosen to support Ngak Min Health as our missions are closely aligned. Like us, they care about helping people and our donation will help them provide culturally appropriate medical, health and wellbeing services for more young people and their families.”

“This is just the start of the partnership and with plenty more events to come this year. We also are looking forward to engaging KINNECTers with some internal opportunities to get involved.”
