An Online Home Office Ergonomic Assessment is a video-conference assessment of a remote or work-from-home employee’s workstation, conducted by a KINNECT Allied Health Consultant (Occupational Therapist, Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist). The employee completes a short online checklist and uploads photos of their setup, then meets the consultant on video to review posture, equipment, lighting and workflow. KINNECT delivers nationally and provides a written report with practical recommendations and any suggested equipment — helping employers meet their work-from-home WHS obligations and reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury and fatigue.
As an employer, you’re obligated to ensure employees working outside the office have a safe and suitable work environment — the same duty of care that applies inside your building. KINNECT’s Online Home Office Ergonomic Assessments make that practical at scale, even for fully remote and hybrid workforces.
Each assessment is conducted by video conference with a KINNECT Allied Health Consultant (Occupational Therapist, Accredited Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist) and produces a written record that an assessment has been completed, along with practical recommendations to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury, fatigue and lost productivity.
Working from home shouldn’t mean working from a kitchen bench in pain. An ergonomic assessment is the simplest way to find and fix the small setup issues that cause neck, back and shoulder pain, headaches and fatigue — before they become claims, sick days or lost productivity.
Workers based at home permanently who need their workstation set up correctly for long-term comfort and safety.
Employees splitting time between the office and home — where their home setup often gets overlooked.
Roll an assessment into the onboarding workflow so new starters begin with a safe, compliant home workstation.
Anywhere in Australia — no clinic visit or consultant travel required.
We designed the process to be low-effort for the employee and the employer. Most assessments complete in a single short video call, with the consultant doing the heavy lifting on review and reporting.
The employee completes a short working-from-home checklist capturing their workstation setup, equipment and safety information, and uploads photos of their workspace. A KINNECT Allied Health Consultant reviews everything before the call.
The consultant meets the employee on video to assess their home workstation, demonstrates practical setup changes and discusses strategies to reduce ergonomic injury risk while working from home.
You receive a written summary report confirming the assessment was completed, with prioritised recommendations and any suggested equipment. The worker keeps best-practice ergonomics and stretches handouts.
The full assessment cycle runs from the initial checklist through to the consultant’s written report.
Captures workstation setup, equipment, lighting, posture and safety considerations — reviewed by the consultant before the call.
Employees upload photos of their setup so the consultant arrives at the video call already familiar with the workspace.
A registered Occupational Therapist, Accredited Exercise Physiologist or Physiotherapist conducts the assessment over secure video conference.
Hands-on advice on chair, screen, keyboard, mouse, lighting and break habits — tailored to the employee’s actual workspace and role.
A formal record confirming the assessment was completed, with prioritised recommendations and any suggested equipment for the employer to consider.
The worker takes away best-practice ergonomics guidance and stretch routines they can keep using long after the call.
Because the assessment runs over video, there’s no consultant travel or clinic visit required. Employees receive the same structured process whether they are around the corner or in a regional town.

Assessment of an employee’s work environment and safety when working from home — checklist, photo review, video assessment, written report and ergonomics handouts.
Australian work health and safety legislation places the same primary duty on employers whether the worker is in the office or working from home. That includes providing and maintaining a safe working environment, identifying risks and putting reasonable controls in place.
The summary report from a KINNECT Online Home Office Ergonomic Assessment gives you a documented record that the employee’s working-from-home environment has been audited and that an ergonomic assessment has been completed — a defensible starting point for your WHS program.
