Psychological support for your workers

Enabling sustainable psychological rehabilitation.

We believe all aspects of a worker’s life — home, work, physical and social — are interconnected. Considering all of these when supporting an injured worker is the key to long-term recovery.

Our psychological services use a bio-psychosocial framework to assist workers with a variety of physical and psychological injuries. This allows us to assess their capabilities, help them adjust to their injuries and return to work with the same, or a new, employer more quickly.

Services we deliver

Specialist psychological services across the spectrum.

From early intervention through to capacity evaluations and dispute resolution, our team has the right service for every stage.

  • Psychological Injury Management

Assisting injured workers to overcome the psychological barriers that are delaying or preventing a return to work.

  • Adjustment to Injury Counselling

Our psychologists support employees who have experienced traumatic stress, psychological or physical injury and/or mental illness in returning to work.

  • Psychological Capacity Evaluation

An assessment that helps determine whether an individual's psychological health may impact on their ability to safely carry out their duties at work.

  • Workplace Counselling

An early intervention measure that can mitigate the impact of psychosocial risks before they become a claim, and before psychological issues cause harm to your employees.

  • Mental Health & Wellbeing Training

Tailored training that improves awareness and equips your workers with the capabilities they need to recognise and act on mental health risks.

  • Facilitated Discussion

    Victoria only

An alternate method of dispute resolution for injured workers where workplace relationship issues or interpersonal conflict is a barrier to recovery and return to work.

The focus is on supporting workers to recover and safely return to health and work.

Who are these services for?

They support workers experiencing a primary or secondary psychological injury, traumatic stress or mental illness — as well as the employers and insurers helping them recover. Our team takes a holistic, bio-psychosocial approach centred on each individual’s circumstances.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. Sessions are conducted by registered psychologists and rehabilitation counsellors who work within their professional and ethical obligations, including privacy and confidentiality. Personal information you share in a session is handled sensitively and is not disclosed beyond what is needed to support your care and any agreed reporting, in line with the relevant scheme requirements.

Who provides the services?

A diverse team of allied health practitioners — including registered psychologists and rehabilitation counsellors — deliver the services, working alongside you, your treating practitioners and your support network.

How do I make a referral?

You can call us or submit a referral online, and one of our team will be in touch to talk through your needs and the worker’s situation. There’s no obligation — we’re happy to discuss the best way forward first.

Can these services support a return to work?

Yes. Our psychologists and counsellors take a recovery-focused approach designed to help workers return to health and, where appropriate, safely back to suitable work — coordinated with employers and treating practitioners at a pace that’s right for the individual.

What if a worker is in distress or needs urgent help?

KINNECT’s psychological services are not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 000. For 24/7 support you can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636.
