KINNECT's Confined Space Medicals assess a worker's medical and physical capacity to safely enter and work in confined spaces — including vessels, tanks, silos, pipes, tunnels, pits and equipment housings — without risk of developing or aggravating an injury or medical condition. Assessments are delivered in our owned clinics or onsite Australia-wide by KINNECT clinicians and reviewed by our in-house Occupational Health Doctors.
Confined spaces are areas that aren’t designed for continuous occupancy and pose a real health and safety risk to anyone working in them. They’re largely enclosed, entry and exit are restricted, and the atmosphere, heat or physical posture demanded can quickly turn a minor medical issue into a serious incident.

Lung function testing to confirm the worker can tolerate respiratory protection and the atmosphere inside the space.
Hearing assessment so the worker can reliably hear evacuation alarms and stand-by communication.
Distance, near and colour vision check to confirm the worker can operate safely in low-visibility environments.
A short functional assessment to confirm the worker can manage the postures, climbing and self-rescue demanded by the role.
Standard urinalysis to screen for conditions that may impair fitness for confined space work.
A clear fit / fit-with-conditions / unfit recommendation, reviewed by KINNECT’s in-house Occupational Health Doctors where required.
