Onsite Injury Management.

KINNECT can attend your site or office to provide the expertise of an injury management advisor on your behalf — covering a gap between hires, long-term leave or an organisational change that needs in-house injury management capacity.

Quick answer

The short version

Onsite Injury Management embeds a KINNECT-trained Return to Work Coordinator inside your workplace to run injury management end-to-end — from the first call after an incident through to a sustainable return to work. We cover recruitment gaps, long-term leave and one-off projects, liaise with workers, treating practitioners and insurers, and develop and monitor Suitable Duties Plans. Available as a half-day, full-day or hourly engagement, with an on-call 24/7 option.

What it is

An injury management advisor embedded in your workplace.

Our Onsite Injury Management service is designed to help you fill a gap between recruitment, cover long-term leave, or manage any incident or organisational change that requires in-house injury management expertise.

Your appointed KINNECT advisor manages every aspect of injury management — liaising with all stakeholders, managing treatment and rehabilitation, running the return-to-work process and supporting independence with everyday tasks.

When to use it

Where Onsite Injury Management fits.

We deploy injury management capacity in the shape of your problem — from a single half-day onsite through to a long-term embedded coordinator covering an entire leave period.

  1. 01

    Cover a gap

Backfill a vacant Return to Work Coordinator role, cover parental, sick or extended leave, or step in while you recruit — without losing momentum on active claims.

  2. 02

    Surge capacity

Stand up extra capacity after a major incident, a restructure or an organisational change that has lifted your case load beyond what your internal team can absorb.

  3. 03

    In-house expertise on demand

Bring an allied health professional with deep workers’ compensation experience inside the tent — for complex files, contested decisions or high-stakes negotiations.

What they bring

The capability your KINNECT advisor brings onsite.

Our Injury Management Advisors are allied health professionals — Occupational Therapists, Accredited Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists — with deep workers’ compensation experience across Australian schemes.

They’re particularly experienced in challenging files with complex compliance issues and negotiation requirements — the kind of work that benefits most from an experienced practitioner in the room rather than a phone call away.

On Call 24/7

A priority on-call injury management service — available 24/7.

When an incident happens out of hours, a KINNECT Return to Work Coordinator can engage immediately — accompanying the worker to their first medical appointment, coordinating with the treating practitioner and starting the claim process so nothing falls through the cracks.

  1. 01

    Immediate contact after an incident

Our Return to Work Coordinator contacts the injured worker, explains the injury management process and outlines their rights and responsibilities under the Workers’ Compensation Act — providing claim forms where required.

  2. 02

    Initial assessment and capacity check

A signed consent is obtained, an initial assessment is completed, capacity to work is determined and indicative timeframes are shared with supervisors and site representatives.

  3. 03

    Coordinate with the treating practitioner

We liaise directly with the treating medical practitioner — and accompany the worker to appointments where helpful — to make sure work demands, suitable duties and any restrictions are accurately understood.

  4. 04

Notify the insurer and submit paperwork

The insurer is advised of a potential new claim and the signed Workers’ Compensation Form, First Medical Certificate and Employer Report are forwarded within three days of receipt.

  5. 05

Develop and sign a Suitable Duties Plan

A formal SDP is developed with the employee, supervisor and treating practitioner, then signed off in a case meeting that confirms each party’s roles and responsibilities.

  6. 06

Monitor, adjust and close the case

We maintain regular contact, update the SDP as recovery progresses, escalate to an Occupational Physician or approved WRP if return to work stalls, and close the file once the worker is certified fit for normal duties.

In WA, workers may insist on seeking treatment from a medical practitioner of their own choice — our RTWC accompanies them to that appointment so work demands are accurately presented, suitable, restricted or alternative duties are discussed, and doctor-imposed work restrictions are thoroughly considered and understood.

FAQ

Onsite Injury Management — answered.

The questions HR, safety leaders and return-to-work coordinators ask most often before bringing us in.

What qualifications does an Onsite Injury Manager hold?

KINNECT employs tertiary-qualified Allied Health Professionals — including Occupational Therapists, Accredited Exercise Physiologists and Physiotherapists. Every clinician we place onsite has extensive experience managing workplace injuries and achieving successful return to work outcomes.

When does Onsite Injury Management make sense?

It is most often used to backfill a vacant Return to Work Coordinator role, cover long-term leave, absorb a spike in case load after an incident or organisational change, or bring specialist injury management expertise in-house for complex files.

Can the service be delivered remotely or only onsite?

The service is designed to be delivered at your site or office so the advisor is embedded with your workforce, but we can flex the mix of onsite, in-clinic and telehealth contact to suit your operations and the worker’s location.

Is there an after-hours option?

Yes. KINNECT offers a priority on-call injury management service available 24/7 so an experienced coordinator can engage with an injured worker, treating practitioner or supervisor at the time of an incident — not the next business day.

How does the advisor work with our insurer and treating doctors?

Your advisor coordinates directly with the insurer, treating medical practitioner, allied health team and site supervisors throughout the file — so everyone is working from the same plan, the SDP reflects real job demands, and decisions are documented and defensible.

Which states and schemes do you support?

KINNECT operates nationally and our coordinators bring working knowledge of each state’s workers’ compensation legislation and scheme rules — including the WA arrangement where workers may seek treatment from a practitioner of their own choice.
