A respirator only protects the worker who wears it if it actually seals against their face — so BSL requires a respirator fit test to be completed before attending site, and then repeated at least every two years.

What do I receive after the test?
You receive a printed result, which is also submitted to BSL as part of your site induction. The rule on site is simple: no fit test, no site access.
Why might I fail a fit test?
The most common cause is facial hair preventing a proper seal. Being clean-shaven around the respirator’s sealing surface gives you the best chance of passing.
