The short version

KINNECT Telehealth: Medical Services connects employers, insurers and workers directly with our in-house Occupational Health Doctors and Occupational & Environmental Physicians by secure video or phone — no clinic visit required. We use telehealth for fitness-for-work determinations, Medical Review Officer (MRO) reviews of drug & alcohol results, health surveillance consultations and independent medical examinations. Consultations are scheduled in 15-minute blocks, with the appropriate clinician matched to the matter.

What it is

Occupational medicine consults — without leaving your desk.

KINNECT’s telehealth medical services give you on-demand access to our in-house team of Occupational Health Doctors and Occupational & Environmental Physicians — the same clinicians who oversee our pre-employment, health monitoring and injury management programs — but delivered by secure video or phone, on the platform you already use.

It’s the fastest way to get specialist occupational medicine input into a decision when a face-to-face appointment isn’t practical, isn’t necessary, or simply can’t happen in the timeframe you need.

Who it’s for

Any organisation that needs an occupational physician or doctor’s opinion quickly — and doesn’t need the worker physically examined in-clinic to get it.

  • Employers managing complex fitness-for-work decisions
  • WHS & HR teams running health surveillance programs
  • Insurers and self-insurers needing independent reviews
  • Drug & alcohol program managers
  • Remote, regional and dispersed workforces
  • Organisations without easy access to occupational specialists
What we use telehealth for

Four scenarios where a telehealth consult is the right call.

Where a hands-on examination isn’t the deciding factor, a telehealth consult gets you a defensible specialist opinion faster — without taking the worker offsite.

  • Fitness-for-work determinations

Specialist review of a worker’s capacity to safely perform the inherent requirements of the role — based on medical history, treating reports and clinician interview.

  • Medical Review Officer (MRO)

Independent physician review of non-negative drug & alcohol results, including consideration of legitimate prescription or medical explanations before the result is finalised.

  • Health surveillance consultations

Physician follow-up of abnormal health monitoring findings — for example respirable dust, silica, lead, noise or biological monitoring exceedances.

  • Independent medical examinations

Independent medical examinations for fitness-for-work, conducted by an Occupational Physician where the matter can be appropriately assessed by telehealth.

How we deliver telehealth services

Join the consult on whatever platform suits you.

Same clinicians, same standard of report — booked and delivered in the format that works for your worker and your site.

Video

Secure video conference

Our physicians and doctors join the platform you already use — Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom or Skype — so there’s nothing new to install for the worker or the employer.

  • Use your existing video platform
  • Or join a KINNECT-hosted meeting
  • Camera + audio for a clinical interview
  • Worker can join from home or a private room onsite
Phone

Telephone consult

For low-bandwidth sites, FIFO accommodation, or situations where a video link isn’t practical, we can deliver the same consult by telephone.

  • No video platform required
  • Useful for remote and regional workforces
  • Same physician, same documentation
  • Booked into the same 15-minute blocks

Frequently asked

Common questions about telehealth medical services.

  • Who actually conducts the telehealth consult?

One of KINNECT’s in-house Occupational Health Doctors or Occupational & Environmental Physicians — the same clinicians who oversee our pre-employment, health monitoring and injury management programs. You’re not routed to an external GP network.

  • What platforms can you use?

Our doctors can join your video conferencing platform — Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom or Skype — or host the meeting on a KINNECT-managed link. If video isn’t practical we can also deliver the consult by telephone.

  • How long does a telehealth appointment take?

Consults are booked in 15-minute blocks. Most MRO and health surveillance follow-ups complete in one or two blocks; complex fitness-for-work and IME matters may run longer.

  • How do I request a telehealth consultation?

Submit the form on our Contact Us page, select Occupational Medicine, and note "Telehealth Consultation" in the additional information box. Our occupational medicine team will confirm a time and the right clinician for your matter.
