Chevron Pre-employment Medicals are role-based fitness-for-duty assessments required for every worker performing duties on a Chevron-controlled site. KINNECT delivers all three Chevron medical categories — Perth, Remote Offshore/Marine and Emergency Response Team — nationally through our owned clinic network, with the additional OGUK and AMSA clearances coordinated where they're needed.
Which Chevron medical does your worker need?
There are three categories of Chevron Pre-employment Medicals. The required testing and certificate validity differ for each — and the right category depends on where the role is based and what duties it involves.
- Perth Medical
Perth-based, safety-sensitive roles
Required for Perth-based individuals who operate heavy machinery, work in confined spaces, work from heights, or undertake frequent site travel (more than six nights). Confirms fitness for the safety-critical aspects of the role.
- Remote Offshore / Marine
Workers more than an hour from a tertiary hospital
For workers based in remote locations more than a one-hour flight from a tertiary hospital. In WA, tertiary hospitals are only based in Perth. Includes Barrow Island, Thevenard Island, Onslow, Dampier, Karratha, offshore platforms and offshore rigs.
- Emergency Response Team
ERT-rated fitness-for-duty assessment
For any employee undertaking emergency response duties on a Chevron site. Extends the standard medical with the additional functional and cardiovascular criteria needed for ERT duties.

Depending on the vessel, operator and the worker’s role, Chevron pre-employment medicals are often paired with additional industry clearances. KINNECT coordinates these alongside the base medical so workers leave with a complete, mobilisation-ready package.

Who needs a Chevron Pre-employment Medical?
Every worker performing duties on a Chevron-controlled site is required to undergo a Chevron Pre-employment Medical Assessment to evaluate their fitness for the role and meet Chevron’s Fitness for Duty requirements.
How many Chevron medical categories are there?
Three: the Perth Medical (for Perth-based safety-sensitive roles), the Remote Offshore and/or Marine Medical (for workers based more than an hour from a tertiary hospital, including Barrow Island, Thevenard Island, Onslow, Dampier, Karratha and offshore platforms), and the Emergency Response Team Medical (for any employee with ERT duties on a Chevron site).
When is OGUK Clearance required?
OGUK Clearance is required when a worker is attending a non-Chevron offshore oil and gas operation — for example Ensco, Technip, DoF or any other non-Chevron vessels. KINNECT can coordinate the OGUK Clearance at the same time as the Chevron medical.
When is AMSA Certification required?
AMSA Certification is required for marine employees working on Australian-regulated commercial vessels and offshore marine operations. We coordinate AMSA Certification alongside the relevant Chevron medical category.
