Quick answer

The short version

KINNECT is the approved provider of Respirator Fit Tests for the NRG Gladstone Power Station Respiratory Protection Program. Every employee or contractor working in dust or fume areas at NRG Gladstone Power Station must complete a respirator fit test — covering Full Face, Half Face or P2/N95 masks — before attending site, and again at least every 2 years. Testing is conducted at the KINNECT Gladstone clinic, either as a stand-alone appointment or alongside a Gladstone Industry Medical Pass.

What it is

Confirm the right mask, every shift.

NRG Gladstone Power Station requires all employees and contractors working in dust and/or fume areas to wear a respirator. To make sure each person gets the highest level of protection available, a respirator fit test must be completed before they attend site — and repeated at least every two years.

KINNECT conducts the fit testing at our Gladstone clinic as part of the NRG Respiratory Protection Program. NRG provides us with samples of every respirator mask approved for site use, so each worker is fitted against the exact mask they’ll be wearing.

On completion you receive a printed copy of your results, which can be presented to NRG as part of the requirement to access site. If the fit test is performed at the same time as a Gladstone Industry Medical Pass Assessment, the result is documented on the Gladstone Industry Medical Pass Results Card.

Who it’s for & when it’s required

Mandatory for anyone in dust or fume areas at NRG Gladstone.

If your team works on the NRG Gladstone Power Station site in any area where a respirator is required, a current fit test is part of your access compliance — for both employees and contractors.

Who should be tested

  • NRG Gladstone Power Station employees working in dust or fume areas
  • Contractors and sub-contractors entering dust or fume areas onsite
  • New starters and anyone newly issued a respirator
  • Workers changing mask type (Full Face, Half Face or P2/N95)

When it’s required

  • Before a worker first attends the NRG Gladstone site
  • At least every 2 years — the maximum interval under the program
  • After any change in mask model, size or manufacturer
  • After significant facial change (weight, dental work, facial hair)
What happens on the day

A short appointment, a printed result, site-ready.

We keep the appointment tight so individuals can be in and out quickly, and so contractors can move whole crews through a single block of time.

  1. 01

    Choose your mask

Tell us at booking which respirator mask you use on site — Full Face, Half Face or P2/N95. NRG provides KINNECT with samples of every approved mask so we can test against the exact model.

  2. 02

Fit test at the Gladstone clinic

You attend the KINNECT Gladstone clinic for the fit test. Our consultant walks you through correct donning, runs the test against your nominated mask, and confirms the result.

  3. 03

    Receive your results card

You leave with a printed copy of your fit test results, which can be presented to NRG as part of accessing site. If completed alongside a Gladstone Industry Medical Pass, the result is recorded on the Gladstone Industry Medical Pass Results Card.

  4. 04

    Re-test inside 2 years

Fit testing must be repeated at least every two years, or sooner if your mask, fit or facial profile changes. We’ll prompt the recall so nobody is caught short of site access.

FAQ

NRG Respirator Fit Test — answered.

The questions employees and contractors most often ask before attending the Gladstone clinic.

Who needs an NRG Respirator Fit Test?

Any employee or contractor working in dust or fume areas at the NRG Gladstone Power Station. Under the Respiratory Protection Program, a current fit test is required before attending site.

How often do I need to re-test?

At least every two years. You should also re-test sooner if you change mask type, model or size, or if your facial profile changes (for example, significant weight change, dental work or new facial hair).

Which mask types can KINNECT fit at the NRG program?

NRG has provided KINNECT with samples of every approved mask used onsite. We can fit Full Face, Half Face and P2/N95 respirators. Tell us your mask type when you book so we can prepare the correct sample.

Where is the fit test conducted?

At the KINNECT Gladstone clinic, as part of the NRG Respiratory Protection Program. If you are also attending for a Gladstone Industry Medical Pass Assessment we can perform the fit test in the same appointment.

Can the fit test be done at the same time as a Gladstone Industry Medical Pass?

Yes. When the fit test is performed alongside a Gladstone Industry Medical Pass Assessment (formerly the Gladstone 3 Site Medical), the result is recorded on the Gladstone Industry Medical Pass Results Card.

How do contractors book a group session?

Contact KINNECT with the number of workers, their mask types and your preferred dates. We offer group blocks for up to 9 employees (4-hour block) or up to 18 employees (8-hour block), conducted at the Gladstone clinic.

What documentation do I leave with?

A printed copy of your fit test results, which can be presented to NRG as part of accessing site. Where the test is done with a Gladstone Industry Medical Pass, the result is also documented on the Gladstone Industry Medical Pass Results Card.
