KINNECT's mini-MBA program to grow new business leaders

More than a dozen KINNECTs have been selected to participate in the company’s mini-MBA and internal talent development program.

The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is aimed at KINNECTers who want to develop themselves personally and professionally and shape their leadership skills to support their future career.

The 2022 cohort includes:

  • Braden Renel, Customer Relationship Manager, Sydney
  • Catherine Smith, AEP, Sydney
  • Kaitlan Barnham, Health Surveillance Team Leader, Brisbane
  • Kerry Chiu, AEP, Sydney
  • Elizabeth Patterson, Team Leader, Brisbane
  • Sara Czubek, Administration Officer, Projects
  • Sarah Gandolfo, OT, Melbourne
  • Sarah Jefferies, AEP, Brisbane
  • Sima Gharibi, Rehab Counsellor, Melbourne
  • Suzie Rigby, Psychologist, Gold Coast
  • Tamsin Hearne, Team Leader, Perth
  • Tarryn Botha, Team Leader, Rockampton / Gladstone
  • Tegan Kwon, OHN, Cairns
  • Victoria Casey, Team Leader, Townsville
  • Lelayna Beverley, Team Leader, Gold Coast

Having just graduated 10 successful applicants from the 2021 cohort, CEO & Managing Director, Kevin Conlon, said he was once again overwhelmed by the popularity of the course amongst the company’s new starters and long-term employees.

“As a growing business, we continually need to attract new and talented staff to our business. It’s clear to me that having this fully-funded leadership program in-house is an important part of both keeping our happy and highly skilled employees and attracting new talent too.

“We’ve designed the Emerging Leaders Program to help KINNECT to grow the leaders of tomorrow from within the business today.  We see it as a definite win-win to be meeting the needs of individuals and our business needs at the same time.

“I know I can’t wait to start the ELP journey with this fantastic group.”

KINNECT’s Emerging Leadership Program is open to anyone in the business with leadership aspirations, regardless of their role or department.  With lectures, workshops, special guest speakers, assigned reading and group study, the ELP course covers a range of topics in depth over 12 months. This includes workplace culture, leadership, personnel recruitment, finance, operations, time management, discipline and execution, business objectives and technology.

The people taking part in the course represent many different parts of the business; from support services and administration to allied and nursing health professionals.

Grace Thompson was one of the recent graduates of the program.

“When I applied for the ELP, I honestly thought I wouldn’t get in. But doing it has given me such a confidence boost. Everything was really relatable and pitched so it was easy to grasp. I surprised myself with how much I actually knew. I’ve taken something from every session and all the readings.

“Without a doubt, I would not have had the opportunity to learn this much about leadership, and so easily, without this program.”

KINNECT has a track record of promoting from within, with the majority of Executive Leadership Roles performed by staff who began their careers with KINNECT.
