A shining example of career progression at KINNECT

People Stories 02 Aug 2023

Customer Success Team member Lelayna Beverley (Laynie) has translated her passion for helping people, commitment to delivering a high level of customer service and aptitude for tackling complex problems into a career with KINNECT that’s only going up.

Drawn to the health and wellbeing field, Laynie initiated a Bachelor of Health Science in 2019 after working in roles that gave her experience in building and managing client relationships. Lelayna Beverley - KINNECTs Client Relationship Advisor

Before joining KINNECT, she had a strong desire to help others and consistently gravitated towards complex situations and processes that involved innovative thinking and action, but underestimated the impact she could make by using these qualities. “After becoming part of KINNECT, I realised that these skills were not only highlighted but were also actively promoted. KINNECTers are encouraged to use them to create sustainable value and solutions for our clients,” she explained.

Laynie started at KINNECT as a Medical Support Officer in 2020 and has since been supported by colleagues and supervisors in her swift rise through the ranks from Customer Success Officer to Customer Success Manager, and into her recent appointment as Client Relationship Advisor.

“I’ve always felt supported by KINNECT. Initially, I joined the medical support team on the Gold Coast before the outbreak of COVID-19. Only having been with KINNECT for a few months, I completely expected that there might not be a role for me once the COVID outbreak peaked. However, KINNECT surprised me by diversifying and creating improvement roles for many team members like myself. KINECT also consistently offered support and recognition to all teams during this critical time,” Laynie said.

KINNECT provided Laynie with additional training and education to complement her current role, allowing her to transfer into a position in the Customer Success Team where she worked closely with clients on a regular basis. After nearly a year in this role, and with the support and guidance of her supervisor, she progressed to Customer Success Manager in December 2021. “During my interactions with various teams and external clients, I expressed my interest to become an Account Manager at KINNECT. I’m glad I did and was supported by the Leadership Team who encouraged me to follow this career path,” Laynie recalled.

Appointed to her new role as Client Relationship Advisor/Account Manager in July 2023, Laynie now draws on her exceptional interpersonal skills and approachable nature to build enduring relationships with clients, delivering practical and efficient solutions that help them achieve their goals. Day to day, Laynie works closely with new and existing clients to explore feedback and potential opportunities, identify pre-employment and health surveillance requirements and find ways to streamline their systems.

For Laynie, one of the best things about working at KINNECT is the flexibility in each role, particularly as an Account Manager:

“The dynamic nature of my days keeps me on my toes, and the flexibility to adapt to client needs encourages me to grow. Overall, I’ve found it to be a rewarding and supportive team to work with.”

“A major advantage for me is the hybrid working arrangement, which offers me flexibility and cuts down on commuting. I also find this has given me a better work/life balance and I’ve been able to change up my routines on the days I work from home.” Laynie said.

For anyone thinking of following a similar career path, Laynie believes that success in this type of role requires a client-centred approach, a strong inclination to think innovatively, and the ability to find creative solutions that offer mutually beneficial outcomes with your clients. She encourages people wanting to enter the field to nurture these skills and the relationships that come from using them.

What’s next for Laynie?

Personally, she’d love to tick a few more countries off her travel list, starting with Japan, Canada and Switzerland. Professionally, she’s excited to see how far her career can grow at KINNECT.
