Although often considered to be quite challenging, pre-employment medicals are used to ensure a potential employee is safe and fit to complete the inherent demands of the job role.

Every pre-employment medical is different, as each is designed to test against the unique requirements of the job role. For example, a pre-employment medical for a mining role is different to that of a logistics role. There are several areas which many be assessed during a pre-employment medical exam including:

Medical History

During your pre-employment you will be required to complete a series of questions relating to your past and present medical history. Such questions may include:

  • Are you currently taking any medication?
  • Have you previously undergone any surgery?
  • Do you have any allergies?
  • Do you smoke?
  • Do you drink alcohol?

It is important that you are completely honest when completing the medical history as this information can significantly impact on your employment opportunity should it be found that you were dishonest.

  • Range of Motion – a measurement of how far you can move, bend and flex each of your joints
  • Grip Strength – a measurement of how strong your grip is
