Respirator fit testing service boosted by increased demand in healthcare

Milestones 06 Jan 2021

KINNECT has won several new contracts to provide respirator fit testing to healthcare clients as demand increases due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the public health system begins to roll-out Respirator Fit Testing for frontline workers, KINNECT will provide more than 1,600 fit tests for St Vincent’s Hospital in Victoriahaving commenced delivery of services in October 2020.

This delivery coincides with the provision of approximately 500 tests KINNECT are providing the Mid North Coast Local Health District.

While awareness of N95 and P2 masks and Respirator Fit Testing has increased in Australia this year off the back of the COVID-19 pandemic, the service itself is something that KINNECT has completed for many years in other industries that have the need for the respiratory protection such as construction, mining and asbestos removal.

Across the business, demand for KINNECT’s Respirator Fit Testing services has been strong in 2020. The company provided more than 7,500 tests in 2020 across all sectors.

KINNECT’s Key Account Director, Clark Hopley, said:

Respirator masks must be fit-tested in order to guarantee that the worker is safe when working in environments with hazardous exposuresMasks are not one size fits all and it is essential for a workers health that a correct fit is achieved.

“KINNECT have a well-established track record in providing a high volume of tests in other industries either in clinic or on-site. Combined with our existing experience in supporting the health care industry, and our reputation as a quality health care provider, we are well placed to partner with the healthcare sector.”
