KINNECT Ramps Up Respirator Fit Testing Services in Gladstone

KINNECT has won a new contract to provide Respirator Fit Testing to contractors of Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL) being viewed as a major boost to the delivery of services in Gladstone.

KINNECT expects to provide more than 500 respirator fit tests for contractors at our clinic in Gladstone.

Across the business, demand for KINNECT’s Respirator Fit Testing services continues to rise, with more than 7,500 tests expected to be completed in 2020 across mining, construction and healthcare sectors.

This contract builds on the existing relationship KINNECT has with Boyne Smelters Limited and Rio Tinto in Gladstone.

KINNECT is already an approved medical provider for 3 Site Medicals for Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL), Rio Tinto Yarwun Alcan (RTAY) and Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL).

What is a Respirator Fit Test?

BSL’s Respiratory Protection program require all employees and contractors, working in dust and/or fume areas, to wear a respirator. This is a special type of tight-fitted mask which protects the wearer in potentially hazardous environments. To ensure maximum protection the mask must be properly fitted and tested. Employees and contractors must have a respirator fit test every two years at a minimum.
