COVID-19 Update: KINNECT Remains Operational

Announcements 19 Mar 2020

As like many organisations, we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation and making necessary changes frequently. These changes are under the direction of our Senior Occupational and Environmental Physician, Dr. Graeme Edwards who is synthesising the information coming from both state and federal government health departments.

We have to balance the risk to our staff, the candidates/workers they are seeing and the necessity of these candidates/workers to provide essential services during the pandemic. We have measures in place to reduce the known risks and are conducting risks assessments regularly.

The Prime Minister has strongly encouraged businesses, especially essential service businesses, to continue operating. Many of our clients, will have a workforce working to provide essential services. As such, access to occupational health services will still be required during this period, particularly as emergency departments and general practice medical centres become increasingly busy and high risk for COVID-19 exposure. In response we are extending our telehealth medical and allied health services so that injured or ill workers are able to receive medical care without the need to attend emergency departments or busy medical centres.

At present, it is KINNECT’s intent to remain operating across all our clinics and affiliate network and we will do so until such time as we are advised.

Our affiliate network will experience some slight delays for appointments due to the increased demand for General Practice medical appointments. We may also experience the need to modify assessments on some occasions, as some clinics are adopting a no spirometry or breath alcohol policy. It will mean that businesses may need to account for slightly longer mobilisation time frames or a change in their risk management approach.
