Dr Matthew Brandt

Chief Medical Officer &
Consulting Occupational & Environmental Physician

Dr. Brandt is a Senior Consulting Physician with extensive experience in Occupational and Environmental Medicine. His experience of over 20 years includes working as a consultant and medical adviser for a wide variety of companies and industries.

Dr Matthew Brandt graduated with an MBBS from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1997. He is a Fellow (Specialist) of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) in active clinical practice and an examiner for AFOEM.

His competencies include:

  • Assisting business leaders to identify, assess, manage and review risks arising out of occupational and environmental health and safety hazards and to optimise the wellbeing of organisations,
  • Planning and medical management of health surveillance protocols,
  • Assisting with development and review of health standards for work,
  • Assisting business leaders to plan and implement occupational rehabilitation programs and associated communication processes,
  • Evidence-supported Occupational Physician opinion to assist organisations to support best-practice, rehabilitation and return to work for individuals with a broad range of medical and psychological conditions,
  • Provision of evidence-informed medical guidance to support early intervention and rehabilitation for workers with a workers’ compensation claim,
  • Fitness for duty – safety critical work,
  • Preparation, delivery, and facilitation of health education activities.

Dr Graeme Edwards

Senior Consulting Occupational & Environmental Physician

Dr. Edwards is a Senior Consulting Physician with extensive experience in Occupational and Environmental Medicine. His experience of over 25 years includes working as a consultant and medical adviser for a wide variety of companies and industries.

Dr. Edwards’ qualifications include a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medical Science from The University of Queensland. As part of his education, Dr. Edward’s wrote a thesis in Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology specialising in pain. His current work includes being a Queensland representative for The Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) Council and the Director of Work & Health Risk Management.

Dr. Edward’s recently represented the AFOEM at a silicosis working group in March 2019. The working group comprised of representatives from Queensland Health, the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy as well as a number of medical organisations. The group was developed to provide a response to the unfolding silicosis crisis1.

This response included a Queensland Government audit where hundreds of stonemasons were referred for lung testing. This testing was conducted by Dr. Graeme Edwards alongside other prominent Occupational and Environmental Physicians2,3.

Dr. Edwards will be providing KINNECT with Occupational and Environmental Physician services to complement our existing occupational medical service offering. Together with Dr. Edwards, KINNECT look forward to assisting more people remain healthy and safe at work.


Dr David Pfidze

Occupational & Environmental Physician

Dr David Pfidze is a fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (FAFOEM) and has worked within the resources sector for more than 12 years. 

Dr David Pfidze graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Zimbabwe in Harare in 1996. He spent the first years of his early career working in field hospitals in Zimbabwe and Botswana during the AIDS / HIV epidemic. 

Dr Pfidze came to Australia in 2004 where he firstly worked as an Emergency Doctor in Bankstown in Sydney before making the move into Occupational Medicine for Medibank Private in 2007.  He completed his fellowship with the AFOEM (Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine) before relocating to Gladstone in and taking on the role of Principal Medical Advisor for Rio Tinto Aluminium in 2009 where he has been ever since. 

Dr Pfidze has considerable expertise in dealing with workers in high-risk, safety critical roles. He has a particular interest in health surveillance encompassing work site hazard assessment, identification and control, as well as developing targeted health surveillance and biological monitoring protocols. He is also a strong advocate for good work and has comprehensive experience in supporting employers to optimise workplace rehabilitation and return to work outcomes.

Sharon Marsh

Clinical Governance Manager

Sharon is extensively experienced in the Occupational Health industry, having spent most of her extensive career working in the space.

Her focus is on process and systems to ensure operational excellence and the highest levels of customer service for KINNECT’s Occupational Health service delivery.

Prior to joining KINNECT, Sharon worked as a Practice Manager to General Manager in the Occupational Health industry which she focused on continuous business improvements and clinical excellence.
