Queensland Ambulance Service Clinical Placement Medical Assessment

KINNECT is the preferred Medical Provider for Queensland Ambulance Service Clinical Placement & Graduate Paramedic Program.

University students who are completing a clinical placement with Queensland Ambulance Service and/or Graduate Paramedics are required to undertake a Medical Assessment through KINNECT.

There are two important steps that must be completed in order to commence your Medical Assessment with KINNECT.

You must complete each step in numerical order (e.g. Step 1 and then Step 2).

Please note, you must supply all requested information in each step, in order for your medical assessment to be completed.

Step 1 – Immunisations Step 2 – Appointment Details & Payment

STEP 1

Immunisations

Download Immunisation Requirements

Before you can commence your medical assessment with KINNECT, we need to understand that you have previously had the below immunisations:

  • Hepatitis B
  • Whooping Cough (Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella
  • Tuberculosis (only required in certain instances)

Please click on the “Download Immunisation Requirements” above to access QAS immunisation guidelines for further information.

To help you understand your immunisations requirements and in order to submit the required information to KINNECT prior to your medical, please complete the below online form. You can save this form and return to it at later date, should you need to obtain additional documentation.

Please note your medical assessment will not be scheduled until you have supplied all required immunisation data and this has been confirmed to meet QAS standards.

Do not proceed to Step 2 without having completed Step 1 in full.

STEP 2

Appointment Details & Payment

The cost of your medical assessment is determined upon the location where the assessment is conducted. Please indicate your availability to complete your assessment and make payment for your medical.

STEP 3

Appointment

You will receive an SMS and email from KINNECT advising of your  appointment details and location. We will also advise you on what to bring to your assessment and other relevant details. It is important that you review this information and understand your requirements prior to attending.

STEP 4

Attend Appointment

You will attend your scheduled appointment, allowing up to 3 hours of time to complete the assessment. Failure to attend your scheduled appointment or cancellation within 24 hours will result in fees being applied.

STEP 6

Medical Results

Your Medical Results will be assessed by a KINNECT Doctor as per the QAS Medical Standards. Your Medical Results will be sent to both QAS stakeholders and yourself via email within 2 business days of your assessment.

Further Medical Information

If during the assessment process you are identified to have a medical condition that requires further medical investigation and/or information from a treating doctor, KINNECT will contact you and provide a referral letter to take to your treating doctor. Upon receiving this information back from you, KINNECT’s Doctor will review the information and make the Fitness for Work Determination.

This fee ($175 + GST) is to cover the cost of the referral letter, review of the additional information and a final fitness for work determination by the KINNECT Doctor.

To avoid a further medical review being required, KINNECT encourage you to bring supporting documentation to your appointment should you have a medical / health condition and/or current injury. Supporting documentation may include:

  • Letter from your treating Doctor / Medical Specialist
  • Pathology and/or Radiology Results

Please note KINNECT will not provide advice or guidance as to what medical information a student should provide.  We encourage the student to refer to the Queensland Ambulance Service Medical Guidelines or discuss with the University.
