KINNECT Successfully Delivers Hazardous Manual Task Assessment Project in Tasmania

Announcements 09 Oct 2015

On the 12th of February this year, KINNECT was notified of our success in tendering for the provision of Hazardous Manual Task Assessments for TasNetworks, Tasmania’s state network of transmission towers, substations and powerlines.

With assessments being completed at 17 TasNetworks sites and over 350 individual workers participating in the program, KINNECT considers this project as one of its most extensive to date.

“Being engaged by TasNetworks to deliver such a large scale program is recognition of our national presence and reputation as a leading Occupational Health Provider that has the experience in the delivery of large projects” said Clark Hopley (Director).

A team of KINNECT Consultants travelled from Brisbane to Tasmania to deliver the project and cover the considerable geographical scope of the TasNetworks sites.

The project consisted of three distinct stages including the identification of high risk tasks, development of hazardous task risk assessments with recommended control measures and the development and delivery of manual handling training and ergonomic training and assessments.

With a deadline of 30th July 2015, KINNECT assessed over 30 job roles, identifying 11 high risk tasks and developing 11 Hazardous Manual Task Assessments reports and Safe Work Method Statements. In addition, KINNECT sought to create behavioural change with regards to the safe performance of manual tasks by completing 69 hours of manual task training which included the development of best practice manual handling videos and guidelines for TasNetwork.

“Identifying and mitigating risk associated with manual tasks is just one of our area of expertise. We enjoy partnering with companies that equally appreciate injury prevention initiatives.”

Feedback from TasNetwork employees and health and safety management has been positive.

“Our organisation selected KINNECT as the provider with the most competitive, innovative and tailored solutions for managing manual tasks. KINNECT offers a fresh perspective on manual task assessment and training, clearly embracing interactive learning styles and new technologies. Their service is flexible and responsive, and has produced some quality materials we will use for years to come.” Said Rachel Millett, Principal Safety Advisor for TasNetworks.

KINNECT now look forward to the next large scale project in the beautiful state of Tasmania, where we once again hope to partner with a company to ensure their employees remain healthy, safe and productive.
